Riley McLean: President/ Artistic Director
Riley is the founder of both Eclectic Productions and Bearfoot Theatre. Their producing experience includes One Good Thing (2015), Rumours of Polar Bears (2016), Do Your Parents Know You’re Straight? (2017), Take Me To Neverland (2018), DYPKYS the Musical Concert (2018), and I Hope it’s not Raining in London (2018). Directing experience includes two years of Tantrum Youth Art’s Hissyfest, Mulan Jnr (AD- Young Peoples Theatre), Rumours of Polar Bears (Eclectic Productions), RENT (Pantseat Performing Arts), Do Your Parents Know You’re Straight? (Eclectic), You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown (YPT), Take Me To Neverland (Bearfoot Theatre), Hinterland (YPT) and I Hope it’s Not Raining in London (Bearfoot). Playwriting experience includes ten minute sketches in Tantrum’s Hissyfest, and full-length plays- Do Your Parents Know You’re Straight? and Take Me To Neverland.
Riley entered the industry in 2005, attending regular drama lessons at Young People’s Theatre and singing lessons at Pantseat Performing Arts. They attended the Hunter School of Performing Arts where they studied subjects including Drama, Music and Entertainment Industry Theatre. After graduating, they completed a Diploma of Arts (Acting) from the Regional Institute of Performing Arts and a Diploma of Music Theatre from WEA Hunter Academy of Creative Arts. They have appeared in many local Newcastle productions, including House on Fire (Tantrum Youth Arts), Les Miserables (HSPA), 13 the Musical (The National Theatre Company), Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (YPT), One Good Thing (Eclectic Productions) and Avenue Q (WEA & Pantseat). Riley has been employed at Hunter Theatre (Tech Crew/FOH), and at Waterside Music (Drama/Singing Teacher) and they currently work as a drama tutor at Young People’s Theatre Newcastle.
Cassandra Hamilton: Vice President/ Artistic Director
Cassandra began acting at Young People’s Theatre in 2007 Since then she’s gone on to perform in numerous productions with various theatre companies throughout Newcastle, including leading roles in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (YPT), Thoroughly Modern Millie (HSPA), RENT (Pantseat Productions) and most recently in the 2018 production of I Hope it’s Not Raining in London (Bearfoot Theatre).
Cassie has worked as a director on Do Your Parents Know You’re Straight? (Eclectic Productions/Bearfoot Theatre), You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown (Young People’s Theatre), and Take me to Neverland (Bearfoot Theatre). In 2017 she completed her Diploma of Musical Theatre with WEA Hunter Academy of Creative Arts and is currently undertaking a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Creative and Performing Arts at Newcastle University.
Robyn McLean: Treasurer/ Financial Manager
Tyler Atcheson: Secretary
Tyler’s first experience working in the theatre was as lighting operator for Eclectic Productions’ 2015 show, ‘One Good Thing’. In 2016, he continued his technical and backstage work as sound operator for ‘Rumours of Polar Bears’ (Eclectic Productions), spotlight operator for ‘Avenue Q’ and lighting operator for ‘Aida’ (WEA Hunter Academy of Creative Arts), as well being spotlight operator for ‘Shrek The Musical Jr’ (Hunter Drama).
Since the inception of Bearfoot Theatre in 2017, Tyler has taken on the roles of production assistant and sound operator on all of their productions (Do Your Parents Know You’re Straight?, Take Me To Neverland, I Hope it’s Not Raining in London) and worked as lighting operator on Newcastle Theatre Company’s ‘Inherit The Wind’. His short play, ‘Microwave’ was accepted into Tantrum Youth Arts’ 10-minute play festival ‘Hissyfest’, and he has been selected to direct one of the plays in this years upcoming ‘Hissyfest’. Tyler is studying a bachelor of communications at the University of Newcastle, majoring in media production. As part of his studies he has directed and produced a short film, and is currently directing a short documentary to be entered into film festivals later this year.
Taylor Reece: Committee Member
Taylor Reece has been involved in theatre since a young age. She has recently performed in I Hope it’s Not Raining in London (Bearfoot Theatre), as Footy Girl in Ugly Mugs (Gnaw Theatre), Lisa in The One (Tantrum), Meg March in Little Women (YPT), Maggie in Take Me To Neverland (Bearfoot Theatre), as a part of the Trajectory Ensemble in HOME (Tantrum/PACT), Sally Brown in You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown (YPT), Jenny/Miss Jenkins in Do Your Parents Know You’re Straight (Eclectic Productions), Storyteller in Mapping the Lake (Tantrum), Ensemble in The Crucible (Lindsay St Players), and Olive Ostrovsky in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (YPT). She musical directed and managed DYPKYS the Musical Concert- (a fundraising event for Bearfoot Theatre). Taylor has also been on the directing teams of Winnie the Pooh Kids, Cinderella and Alice in Wonderland Jr and Sleeping Beauty Kids for Young People’s Theatre, where she is also a tutor.
Laura McLean: Committee Member
Laura has been involved in theatre since joining Young People’s Theatre in 2006 and attending regular lessons until 2014. She has appeared in twelve productions at YPT including Cinderella and the Mice, Wizard of Oz, Snugglepot and Cuddlepie, Annie and Seussical the Musical. She has worked both on and offstage for all three Sparkle and Shine concerts and has worked on two Jamboree showcases. She has also worked extensively backstage, in a variety of areas including stage management, props management and as a technician. Laura volunteers her time working FOH, box office and canteen for YPT and Bearfoot productions. Her first show outside of YPT was Bearfoots’ fundraiser concert: DYPKYS the Musical Concert. Laura has directed three Disney Kids productions at YPT including Winnie the Pooh Kids, The Jungle Book Kids and Sleeping Beauty Kids.
